Pullman Editions was founded in 2010, and publishes timeless Art Deco posters featuring subjects from beyond the vibrant pre-War epoch in which this style of eye-catching posters were originally used to advertise holiday destinations. Pullman Editions posters are organised into themed collections, including those focusing on specific automotive marques (Ferrari, Bentley and Alfa Romeo, for example) along with more traditional holiday resort and winter sports designs.
Pullman Editions’ exclusive editions offer decorative yet affordable limited-edition Art Deco posters created by leading poster artists including Charles Avalon, Dexter Brown and Emilio Saluzzi, who each offers their own ‘signature style’ portraying the quintessential heritage and dramatic imagery of vintage posters.
Each poster is strictly limited to just 280 prints, made using traditional techniques on the finest quality 100% cotton fine art paper. They are also signed, hand-numbered and bear an embossed stamp of authenticity. Each poster measures 97 x 65 cms, and is supplied unframed in a robust tube.
According to founder Georgina Khachadourian, the overall best-selling poster is ‘L’Été sur la Côte d’Azur’, which depicts the legendary 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider on a quayside in the South of France. It’s popularity is likely because the a sunny feel-good image incorporates some key elements that together form a superb Art Deco poster – stylised lettering, a Riva motorboat, and a Ferrari California.
Art Deco posters such as these were once described as “a visual shout”, and proved to be an attractive, effective means of promotion for Swiss and French railway companies, who produced striking prints to adorn station platforms and billboards in an effort to persuade affluent and adventurous travellers to enjoy the newly-fashionable modern luxury travel.
The vast majority of these classic Art Deco posters were destroyed when replaced by new editions, and so the handful of surviving vintage posters today fetch incredible prices of as much as £30,000.
It is to meet demand from both enthusiastic collectors and admirers of Art Deco, for stylish, decorative yet affordable posters – original works, NOT reproductions – that Pullman Gallery’s founder, Simon Khachadourian, in partnership with his wife Georgina, launched Pullman Editions.
Having collected and dealt in the finest vintage posters for many years, the knowledge and experience gained has enabled Georgina and Simon to design unique new artworks featuring the very best elements of Art Deco.
Many of the Pullman Editions collection are now available directly at The Classic Motor Hub, with a number mounted in our showrooms. If you’d like to see one before making a purchase, why not pay us a visit?
