In 1972 the last of the original DBS rolled off the line and Aston Martin’s new owners Company Developments brought with it a change of name for the V8-engined cars, out went DBS V8 and in came the Aston Martin V8 Injection. The new Series Two featured single headlamps with a re styled front end. Electronic ignition and air conditioning were now standard and the cars continued with the chrome instruments and GKN alloys from the DBS along with the DBS wing badges which were being used up by the factory. The chassis number shows the car as a V8 but these models are often wrongly confused as DBS because of the badges. Very few of this model exist today and even fewer in this condition.
Powered by an all alloy 5.3 litre V8 with Bosch mechanical fuel injection producing 320 BHP the car’s performance was exceptional for the era with a top speed of over 150 mph.
THIS MOTOR CAR
After 17 years of storage this particular 1973 Aston Martin V8 Injection was bought by the present owner from Aston Workshop as a barn find. The car then underwent a three year restoration carried out by Roda Classics in Portugal. Roda are a non-profit-making garage belonging to Mr. Carlos Antunes (Ex-CEO of Renault Peugeot). Their criteria is to take on rebuilds/restorations by invitation only.
The recent restoration on this car was a ‘full body-off’ restoration and the detail and effort made on the car was enormous and far exceeded its current market value. Every aspect of the car received restoration including all mechanical and electrical aspects. Parts were all supplied from Aston Workshop and invoices are complete in the file for the car.
Now finished in Antrim Blue Metallic with fresh Glacier Hide (the original colour was white) this Aston Martin V8 Injection comes with a build book that shows the every step of the intensive re-build and is presented in superb condition with any inspection welcome.
