On 1st January The Classic Motor Hub hosted the Cotswold Classic Car Club‘s New Year’s Day charity event, which proved to be a roaring success. An estimated 750 people came to the event with over 400 cars passing through The Hub between 12 and 3pm (with many arriving even earlier!). The Club raised £658.45 for the Youth at Heart charity, who raise money for teenagers and young adults across Gloucestershire and the South West who were born with complex Congenital Heart Disease.
As well as raising a fantastic sum for charity, the event gave people the chance to bring along their classic motor vehicles and display them on hard-standing across the Classic Motor Hub grounds. We also flung open the doors to our showrooms and a particularly special on-site private collection that garnered a lot of admiration from visitors.
To say the selection of cars at the show was eclectic would be an understatement; we saw everything from a 1924 Model T Ford to a 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale, with many other one-off and rarely-seen motor vehicles coming through the gates in droves.
At some points, there were so many people arriving, we unfortunately had to ask some visitors to park in the overflow parking, which we appreciate wasn’t ideal, but was necessary for us to keep on top of the numbers and maintain health and safety on site. We’ve already discussed plans for next year’s event with the Cotswold Classic Car Club, and will be endeavouring to making changes to ensure that everyone who would like to show their cars are not disappointed.
This event was a fantastic way to start the year, and there’s plenty more to come at The Classic Motor Hub throughout the year. We have Coffee & Classics events scheduled for the first Sunday of every month from April to October, and a variety of other specialist events we’ll be announcing very soon. There are also some other exciting developments planned at The Hub which we hope to have ready for the first Coffee & Classics meet on Sunday 1st April.
