The Jaguar E-Type is possibly the most recognisable and iconic car ever created. Upon seeing it, Enzo Ferrari described the E-Type as: “The most beautiful car ever made”, which considering the pride and ego of Signor Ferrari, is quite the compliment, but when one considers the cars that Ferrari were producing at the time, it must be the biggest compliment in automotive history!
The iconic Jaguar E-Type was produced by Jaguar Cars from May 1961 to June 1974 with the first generation of 3.8 ‘Flat Floor’ cars made until June 1962. These early 3.8 litre cars are considered one of the rarer of the E-Type models and came with a straight 6-cylinder twin overhead cam engine producing around 265 BHP driving rear wheels through a 4-speed manual Moss Gearbox, and offering a claimed top speed of 150 mph. The interior was very distinctive with the pressed silver alloy trim and twin bucket seats.
This Series 1 Flat Floor 3.8 is chassis number 875937 was originally delivered to Jaguar Cars New York in October 1967 and sold to a Mr R G Brand in November of the same year.

He took the car back to Pittsburgh where several layers of paint were removed and the whole car stripped to a frame. The car then went to Grand Turismo in Cleveland for a re-build. In 1982 the this Flat Floor 3.8 had to be put into storage as the owner worked overseas and it wasn’t until 1987 the car moved to the owners house in Ohio. Some years after that he eventually began to use the car covering around 200 miles a year.
In 2014 the car was sold and shipped to the UK. There began a 3 year full ground-up restoration costing around £250,000. Now finished in Opalescent Grey with red leather this matching numbers Flat Floor 3.8 E-Type has covered no more than 45 miles since the work was completed. 900 photos of the restoration accompany this car and it is presented in nothing short of as-new concours condition.
