Ferrari’s newest Berlinetta Boxer model was introduced at the 1981 Frankfurt Salon, and although it appeared to be very similar to the outgoing model from a distance, its biggest change was found under the rear engine cover. The 512 BBi replaced the 512 BB’s four Weber carburettors with a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injection system. This upgrade proved the 512 BBi to be much more user-friendly, making the car not only easier to start but also easier to maintain.

The 512 BBi also received a handful of cosmetic updates, including fitting exposed driving lights in the nose, shortening the aluminium egg-crate grille, and fitting rectangular parking lights in a new shroud for the exhaust at the rear. Just 1,007 examples were built from 1981 to 1984, before production transitioned to the Testarossa.

As the most refined of its series, the 512 BBi is considered by many to be a fabulous driver’s car, offering exciting performance, reliability, and refinement. Many enthusiasts believe it to be one of the best Ferrari road cars of the 1980s.

This example, was delivered new to Geneva, Switzerland, in February 1982 and was originally finished in Bianco Polo (Fer 100 Glasurit) over Pella Crema (VM 3997), just as you see it today. As confirmed by its Ferrari Classiche certification, the car is matching numbers throughout. Additionally, its odometer shows around 13,500 kilometres (8300 miles) from new. The car comes with very good service records, dating back to March 1982, with the last service having been carried out in March 2014 at 13,457 kilometres. The car currently resides in a prominent UK collection and is offered with not only its Ferrari Classiche binder but also a correct set of manuals.

This 512 BBi, presented in wonderful original condition, with limited mileage on its odometer and Ferrari Classiche certification to its name, is surely one of the best examples of its kind available today.
