- Exceptionally rare customised Bimota
- 888 SPS Engine
- Hub Centre Streering
- Long term Ownership
Bimota have never been known for their particularly conservative designs and the Tesi 1D is no exception. Its race derived Ducati 851 engine and hub-centre steering is connected by the Bimota’s beautiful alloy frame and swingarm. For one company though, this was not enough so the Japanese specialist bike builder WhiteHouse set about making this amazing machine even more radical. A model they called the Folgore Bianca (White Lightning)
WhiteHouse started by restyling the Tesi, their intension being to show off the beautiful frame of the Bimota that they felt the original design covered and hid away. Their striking design is still incredibly fresh almost 30 years later and remains a talking point to anyone who sees it. When new, customers could specify the material that was used (standard FRP or carbon fibre), the colour and finish as well as upgrades such as exhausts, Ohlins shocks and FCR flatslide carburetors instead of the electronic fuel injection. Early models were made with OEM digital speedo/tacho although these were prone to fail so were later replaced with an analogue system. It is believed around 15-20 examples were made.
This 1992 Bimota Tesi 1D Folgore Bianca (#TD1-00037) is finished in a stunning dark green with gold wheels. It is fitted with the enlarged 851 engine – the 888 SPS from new. It has Brembo brakes and Ohlins shocks. It has been in a private collection for a long time and has not been used for a number of years so the bike will need recommissioning.
