  • 17,100 miles from new

The Alfa Romeo 8C concept first broke cover in 2003 when the company launched a prototype of the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The public and Press alike were all blown away and so the powers that be quickly went about turning the prototype into a production model and three years later they were back at the Paris Motor Show taking orders.

Alfa Romeo had reinstated the fabled ‘8C’ name for the new model so it had a lot to live up to and luckily it did not disappoint either in looks or performance. The beautifully sculptured body was made entirely of carbon-fibre and it sat atop a space frame chassis making it light-weight and stiff. Power came via a Ferrari/Maserati derived 4.7 litre V8 engine producing 450bhp and 470Nm of torque which was driven through a 6-speed manual gearbox allowing 0-62 to be achieved in just 4.2 seconds and a 180+mph top speed.

Production of the Alfa Romeo 8C was limited to just 500 cars, despite over 1500 customers putting in an order and of those only 40 UK buyers were lucky enough to receive one, making them an exceptionally rare beast. The majority of all the 8Cs were finished in red with only a few, such as this one being finished in black.

The car we offer for sale here is one of the exceptionally rare UK market cars finished in black with a tan interior and matching fitted luggage. The Alfa Romeo 8C did have very stiff and uncomfortable suspension so the first owner spent £20,000 having this issue addressed and the car is now a dream to drive being sporty but not uncomfortable to drive; all the original parts come with the car.

This is a wonderful example, in a great and rare colour scheme and it is one of the best handling examples out there. Available for immediate inspection at The Classic Motor Hub.
