First launched as the Ferrari Mondial 8 in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Mondial was designed to offer a more practical coupé for Ferrari’s client base. The Pininfarina design was – at first – offered solely as a 2+2 coupé until 1983 when a Cabriolet body style was introduced. The cabriolet is the only fully convertible car in history to have 4 seats, whilst having a rear mid-engined.
This stunning example is one of just 24 Mondial QV Cabriolets built for the UK market and one of just 2 in White. Over 10 years of production, only 420 Mondials of all types were built for the UK, making this a rare Ferrari in its own right.
Delivered new by H.R. Owen in June 1985 to its first owner – David Sharpe of North London. It was painted Bblue in 1988 but was returned to its original colour by the last owner in 2011 when he bought the car. The blue interior is the original to the car and has not been modified. It comes with its original handbooks in the leather wallet, with the exception of the service book. However, there are copies on file of all the stamps in the book and lots of invoices for work over the years. It comes with nearly all of its MOT certificates back to 1989. These and the invoices confirm the mileage of 70,000 miles. The current wheels fitted to the car are custom replicas commissioned by the current owner so that he could fit more modern tyres so as to improve the handling. The original wheels are provided with the car, so it can be returned to original specification very easily. The car is also fitted with a rare Nardi steering wheel, though again, the original comes with the car.
