1960 Tour de France Automobile

£420.00

Artist: Dexter Brown

Brand View: the pronounced Cavallino Rampante symbolises the legendary Modena marque and today is as instantly recognisable as the interlocking C’s of the Chanel label. Originally emblazoned on the SPAD XIII fighter of Francesco Baracca, ace of aces shot down during the Great War, the equine emblem was adopted by Ferrari at the suggestion of the airman’s mother, Countess Paolina: “Ferrari, why don’t you put my son’s rampant horse on your car? It will bring you luck.” Black was the colour retained for the thoroughbred’s image, but use of the original gold field, the colour of Modena, was all Enzo Ferrari’s idea.
