1964 Targa Florio

£420.00

Artist: Emilio Saluzzi

Sicilian Spectacle: the classic Targa Florio is forever associated with Sicily’s picturesquely wild mountainous landscape. A unique setting for a series of races inaugurated in 1905 by Count Vincenzo Florio (of Marsala wine fame), and staged over a variety of circuits, leading to the myth that the direction of the contest was determined by the prevailing frame of mind of the Mafia. Porsche took the laurels in the 1964 race, but the legendary 250 GTO pictured was justly celebrated as a true supercar combining, to quote Forbes, “…beauty, speed and rarity like no other Ferrari.”
