1968 Ford GT40 No. 9 – Le Mans Limited Edition from Mulsanne Moments

Limited to just 25 and in a special display, this GT40 artwork is a beautiful example of classic motorsport memorabilia. The GT40 came at the dawn of a changing landscape at Le Mans. This car was the first overall winner to have advertising livery, which coupled with its stunning design made it a classic that remains iconic to this day.

These beautiful examples were created by Mulsanne Moments creator James Garlick based on a lifetime obsession with Motorsport. Each piece is hand-made and is intended as an affordable piece of automobilia that preserves the story of each car and its driver(s).

During the 1960s the GT40 destroyed Enzo Ferrari’s dominance at Le Mans and in 1968 fended off Porsche’s challenge for it’s very first manufacturers title, winning by just 2 points in the last race of the season at the 24 Heures du Mans.

Due to increasingly dangerous speeds in sports car racing, the FIA decided to impose new restrictions after 1967. Ford offered to help reduce speeds and sponsored a new chicane an the entrance to the pit straight at Le Mans. The new rules effectively banned the big-block Fords and Chaparral, as well as the big Ferrari’s and marked the end of an era.

The 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 36th Grand Prix of Endurance, The winners were Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi, in this stunning example of the J.W. Automotive Gulf-Oil Ford GT40.
