This elegant timepiece is a tribute to the world’s most famous endurance race: The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Also known as ‘The Race to the Clouds’, it is an annual motor car and motorcycle hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, USA that has been taking place since 1916.
The round case and dials of the Pikes Peak Watch are inspired by the timing watches formerly used to keep accurate record of competitors’ times over 12.5 miles and over 156 turns. The course climbs over 4,700 ft from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,110 ft. The rear of the watch is engraved with the summit altitude as a tribute to the great event.
